Renowned Fuji musician Abass Akande, also referred to as Obesere, has urged the Ondo State Government to identify and bring to justice those accused of assaulting him and damaging his musical gear within the state.

Several individuals were accused of assaulting the Fuji Music in Okitipupa town, which serves as the administrative center of the Okitipupa Local Government Area in Ondo state, on Friday.

A statement released by the media manager of musician Ayonla Althentic, shared on the Facebook page of Sidophonia Progressive F.C., on Sunday revealed the artist's sorrow regarding the event, urging those in power to take action to avoid similar occurrences in the future.

The statement partially stated, "After Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere (Papa) finished his performance and as we were getting ready to depart the location, large numbers of touts gathered around the area."

A group moved towards my position as I had the money bag. Even though we tried to depart without issues, my principal and I were strongly challenged. The attackers asked me to give them the bag; when I said no, a fierce fight happened.

During the assault, I was hit, and my shoulder became dislocated due to the fight. I was also cut with a knife while trying to enter the car; I'm not sure if I was stabbed, but I received multiple hits and am experiencing severe pain.

The assailants subdued me and took the bag of money. At the same time, a different group kept harassing Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere even after he tried to calm them by offering money. I then helped Alhaji into our car, and we departed the location to find safety and receive medical care.

We strongly denounce this criminal and violent conduct. Acts targeting artists, their staff, and those attending a funeral are intolerable.

We urge local officials to locate and bring to justice those involved, and to implement actions to avoid such occurrences at future public gatherings.

Upon being approached by the police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka was unable to verify the incident, stating he had no knowledge of it.

The PPRO merely stated, "I am not aware of it."

Similarly, the chairman of Okitipupa LGA, Andrew Ogunsakin, stated that the event was regrettable and intolerable, and pledged to take action against those responsible.

I was deeply saddened and disheartened to learn about the unfortunate treatment that Abbas Akande Obesere and his team faced yesterday at the Government Field in Okitipupa. This event is unacceptable and contradicts the values we cherish as a community.

I wish to inform the public that the appropriate actions will be implemented to handle this issue and to avoid similar situations in the future, regardless of whether it involves artists, celebrities, entertainers, or any person who is visiting or living within our local government jurisdiction.

"I will be contacting Obesere and his team directly to clarify the situation and express our apologies for the incident. Additionally, I am conducting a detailed investigation to prevent such an occurrence from happening again," he stated.
