Osogbo, Osun -The availability of higher education in Nigeria has grown more restricted for students from low-income households, with numerous institutions, both public and private, consistently raising their tuition costs.

The aspiration for higher education, for students from low-income backgrounds, frequently faces the challenging reality of financial struggles. Yet, a group of seven students recently saw their dream rekindled after obtaining transformative scholarships from the KB Foundation, a community-based program that provides scholarships, school supplies, and hope. Learn more about the recipients below:

OAU student Abiola Badmus secures a scholarship

Abiola Badmus A, a Medicine and Surgery student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, is among those who have received the scholarship.

He reportedly first learned about the KB Foundation after encountering a mention of its founder. In the Foundation's first year in 2023, he was awarded a scholarship that significantly eased his financial burden related to education.

Abiola mentioned that the scholarship enabled him to fully concentrate on his academics, while also reiterating his commitment to contributing to society. According to the KB Foundation, he has reportedly finished his preclinical studies, as stated in a release on Saturday, November 22.

Student Adekunle from UNILORIN refers to the scholarship as a gift.

An additional recipient of the scholarship is Alabi Abdulmujeeb Adekunle, an Electrical and Electronics Engineering student at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).

As per Alabi, he discovered the scholarship through his father, who provided him with the application link. He received the scholarship at a ceremony held at Osun State University (UNIOSUN), after undergoing a thorough selection process and evaluation.

He mentioned that he views the scholarship as a "blessing," easing his family's financial struggles and enabling him to concentrate fully on his academics.

Another beneficiary is OAU student Goodluck Ope

Adeniji Goodluck Ope, a Medicine and Surgery student at Obafemi Awolowo University, is also a recipient.

His travels began with a free JAMB registration test at Career Builder Secondary School. His excellent JAMB scores caught the eye of the school's principal, who recommended him for the KB Foundation's scholarship.

Adeniji is said to have obtained the scholarship right after enrolling.

How I Came to Learn About the KB Foundation Scholarship - Julius

Bolarinwa Olayinka Julius, a Medicine and Surgery student at the University of Ilorin, mentioned that he found out about the scholarship via a WhatsApp link and received it as part of a KB Foundation initiative at Osun State University.

As per the foundation, Bolarinwa has successfully completed his initial professional assessments and has recently started his clinical training.

Another recipient Toheeb Abidemi speaks

Nurudeen Toheeb Abidemi, a Nursing Science student at the University of Ilorin, mentioned that he discovered the scholarship via a WhatsApp group and was awarded it during a donation ceremony held at Osun State University in August 2025.

The young student thanked the scholarship for easing his family's financial pressure.

He mentioned that the support has enabled him to focus on his academic work.

FUTA student Abiodun secures a scholarship

Arowolo Wahab Abiodun, a Medicine and Surgery student at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, mentioned that he learned about the KB Foundation scholarship via a flyer on the ICAN Academy Opportunity Hub. After going through a rigorous selection process, he was awarded a one-year tuition scholarship.

He expressed his gratitude to the Foundation for aiding his academic journey through financial support for tuition, preclinical costs, and community service activities.

Another beneficiary is an OAU Law student

Maruff Hammed K., a law student at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, mentioned that he discovered the KB Foundation through a teacher who introduced him to the founder.

He thanked the Foundation for providing him with the scholarship since his first year at the university.

Maruff credits his academic achievements to the Foundation's ongoing assistance and divine mercy.

In addition to covering educational expenses, the foundation mentioned that it motivates its recipients to strive diligently and contribute to others.
