The future of Strictly Come Dancing is reportedly confirmed following a series of controversies surrounding theBBC show.
Bosses were reportedly thinking about halting the program following aThe star's arrest on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman after a BBC event.
The individual, whose name cannot be disclosed, was taken into custody last month. The injured party was not a participant or performer on the BBC program, but the two crossed paths due to the man's association with the show.
HertfordshireLaw enforcement officials stated that a person has been taken into custody and that investigations are still in progress.
Sources have now confirmed to the Daily Mailthat the show will proceed in 2026, stating: ‘It has already been ordered for 2026. And after that, there's no chance it will go anywhere.’
They mentioned that audiences might consider discontinuing their TV subscription if the program were to be discontinued.
"If you remove that, there's a significant chance they'll cease paying for their license, which would be a complete disaster," the source stated.
It occurred just three months after another unidentified male celebrity was taken into custody on allegations of rape. Authorities stated that a man was arrested in August on suspicion of rape and for having 'non-consensual intimate image abuse'.
The controversy is reported to have split the BBC's top executives, with some determined that the program should continue and others contemplating a break in 2026.
This is said to enable the program to 'strengthen' protective procedures and also update the structure.
A source within the BBC has revealedThe Sunthat it is believed thatTess Daly and Claudia Winkleman’s sudden departure from the programmight give producers the chance to take a break from Strictly.
They stated: "It's honestly humiliating. The sentiment among many is that we just get by for the rest of the series, attempt to provide a proper farewell for Tess and Claudia, and then use the new hosts as a valid excuse to start over."
The decay is so extensive that a genuine solution is required. The sentiment at Broadcasting House is to use the new chapter as a reason to implement it.
A sequence of high-profile controversies have challenged the showin recent times. In 2023,Amanda Abbingtonaccused Giovanni Pernice of being 'abusive' during their time together on the program.
A probe later confirmed several of her claims regarding verbal bullying and harassment, leading to the Italian dancer's exit from the show.
During the course of the inquiry, it was also found thatGraziano Di Prima had kicked Zara McDermottduring their practice sessions, which resulted in his departure from the BBC program.
Strictly, chaperones were later introduced to monitor training sessions, as part of updated care responsibilities.
Then in the run-up to the Strictly tour, Wynne Evans wasrequired to apologize for making an indecent commentabout It Takes Two host Jannette Manrara during a photo call event. The Welsh opera singer was subsequently released from his radio duties at the BBC.
This year, the BBC initiated an investigation into allegations that two of its prominent personalities used drugs while participating in the show. One of the individuals involved was also suspected of consuming alcohol, as a crew member detected the smell of alcohol on their breath.
Winkleman and Daly revealed that this series would mark their final collaboration as co-hosts during the middle of the show, catching fans and Strictly team members off guard.
Articlepedia Today reached out to the BBC for a statement, and a representative stated: "It would not be suitable to comment on an active police inquiry."
