Monduli, Arusha. President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has inducted 296 fresh military officers at the Tanzania Military Academy (TMA) in Monduli.
The inauguration ceremony, which took place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, featured 106 officers receiving a Bachelor of Military Science degree following the completion of a three-year training program.
Among the newly appointed Second Lieutenants are participants from Course 72/24 – Regular (79 officers), 22 pilots, and 89 officers who received training in allied nations.
Prior to announcing the commissions, President Samia reviewed a parade organized by the graduating officer cadets and presented awards to the top achievers in every category.
"I commend you for maintaining rigorous training standards that guarantee our soldiers are adequately prepared to carry out their responsibilities efficiently. These abilities are crucial not only for our armed forces but for the country as a whole," she stated.
She emphasized that the training given to the officers serves as a vital component in reinforcing the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) and aiding national progress.
Previously, Dr Rhimo Nyansaho, the Minister for Defence and National Service, emphasized the ministry's dedication to boosting the number of female graduates, highlighting that the officers are adequately prepared to serve the country with bravery and honesty in maintaining peace and security.
He mentioned that this marks the third year since the academy started providing the Bachelor of Military Science degree on its own.
The minister highlighted advancements in the inclusion of women, noting that in the fourth and fifth graduation classes, there were 21 female participants, whereas this year the count has increased to 25, in contrast to 81 male students.
"Even though the rise is small, the Ministry keeps implementing careful steps to increase the number of female graduates each year, while ensuring the standard of education remains high," he stated.
These accomplishments highlight our strong dedication to enhancing our military, especially in terms of tactical training and discipline. With your skilled leadership, our forces have consistently carried out their responsibilities both domestically and internationally. As we present these new officers today, I pledge that they are prepared to serve the country with bravery, honesty, and a steadfast commitment to safeguarding Tanzania's peace and security.
The head of TMA Monduli, Major General Jackson Mwaseba, stated that the academy will keep offering a supportive atmosphere and top-notch education that fosters patriotism and moral behavior. He noted that among the graduates, 257 were male and 39 were female.
Referring to the 06/22 Bachelor of Military Science group, he mentioned that the program started on October 24, 2022, with 155 cadets. Out of these, 49 left for different reasons, such as personal applications, not meeting academic requirements, issues with integrity, health problems, and missing classes. Consequently, 106 finished the course.
On the Standard Program, he mentioned that it started on 20 December 2024 with 173 trainees, out of whom 102 completed the program. The other 71 could not proceed because of reasons like leaving voluntarily, abandoning training, issues related to integrity, health problems, academic failures, and subpar performance.
"I praise everyone who performed well in their studies, physical training, and exams. I remind you that TPDF has made substantial efforts to establish a supportive environment that provides top-notch training for your personal growth, the military, and the country," he stated.
The nation holds high hopes that the education you have obtained will mold you into genuine patriots who possess strong ethical principles and the capability to tackle issues rooted in justice and human dignity. You bear a significant responsibility to utilize your training in furthering the military's mission and the country's larger objectives.
