Louis, 55, gained recognition as a BBC reporter in the late 90s and early 2000s due to his engaging and unusual interviewing approach, along with his knack for getting into the most bizarre scenarios.
As his reputation grew, the quality of his guests increased, and in addition to his more in-depth reporting, he is famous for his one-on-one conversations with celebrities to reveal their personal stories.
In a 2019 interview onthe Adam Buxton podcast, she was questioned regarding the conflict between the two.
She remarked, "I knew you were going to say that. Can we avoid talking about it? All of our actions, he took. I've moved forward. I have a new profession, but if you utter that name [Louis] around me, I'll feel sick."
I have changed, but there's still some anger left.
In 2020, she participated in Louis' BBC Grounded With podcast, where she explained her remarks, stating that she reviewed his work that same morning prior to their conversation.
It's not about you, it's the things you've brought up—jealousy, envy, my failure, my father's disapproval... It's my reality.
This morning I took a look, I understand what you're up to. It's fantastic. You're doing well, which is what I should have been doing. The difference is I came from Girls On Top [an ITV show from 1985 to 1986], I was a character – that's how I earned my income.
She mentioned that the similarity in their professional paths has troubled her for many years.
Your name was mentioned repeatedly, to the point where it no longer felt like your actual name.
"If I take a taxi, it happens more than once a week. They might ask me, 'Did you used to do what Louis Theroux did?' Or they might say, 'What happened to you?'” she explained.
Elsewhere, on the podcast DishWith Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett in 2023, she revealed the reason behind his name being prohibited, stating, "He was my rival."
I was very resentful and furious, and then I had to present him with two BAFTAs, not just one, so I banned my children from ever using the name Louis. It's strictly off-limits.
Surely, there was a lot of coincidence between Ruby's talk show, which took place from 1996 to 1998, and Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends, which aired from 1998 to 2000.
Following the cancellation of her show, she went as far as claiming that Louis was "taking food out of my mouth and my children's."
As for whether she will start any new conflicts on I'm A Celebrity, it's uncertain. Thus far, she appears to have joined an unexpected group with young influencers Aitch and Angry Ginge – even picking up slang like "leng ting" in an effort to connect.
I'm A Celebrity is broadcast at 9pm onITV1.
