- Hemstone encountered his wife in 2017 while assisting new first-year students; she was a freshman, and he was in his third year.
- His wife became pregnant during her second year, while he was in his final year; the couple struggled financially, relying on student loans and income from academic writing.
- Hemstone served as both a provider and an involved father, changing diapers, preparing meals, and assisting her while she pursued her studies.
When Hemstone encountered his wife in 2017 after she enrolled at the university, he had no idea the path that lay ahead would challenge not only their affection but also their strength.

Hemstone Siriama shared that his marriage perfectly represents the transition from grass to grace. When they began dating in 2017, both were students, with his wife being a new entrant.
Speaking to Articlepedia Today.co.ke, Hemstone shared that they met after he went to assist with the orientation of first-year students, and that was when he first saw the woman who captured his heart.
At first, the couple faced many challenges, particularly when Hemstone's wife became pregnant during her second year of university, while he was in his final year.
"Financial stability was hard to come by. I was barely managing on my own. Taking care of two people felt like trying to lift a mountain without any tools. Yet, love gave us the courage to face it all. Then, in 2018, we discovered we were going to become parents. I was in my last year of study, while she was in her second year. Along with the excitement, fear also entered our lives," he said.
He mentioned that his primary sources of income were his student loan and work in academic writing, so he chose to take on the role of a father and provider for his expanding family.
He not only served as the provider but also took on an active role as a present father upon the baby's birth. From changing diapers to preparing meals while his wife attended her classes, Hemstone handled everything.
"When I graduated in December 2018, I had choices. I could have returned home. I could have pursued employment opportunities. However, my heart guided me toward something different: remain. Remain close to her. Remain and assist her path. Remain and create this family," he shared.
Hemstone recounts taking on the roles of father and husband
That turned out to be his best choice, as his partner didn't have to raise the child by herself; he remained an involved father and a supportive husband while she completed her studies.
Nevertheless, the financial pressure was evident, and they sought assistance from family members whenever they couldn't cover rent or groceries.
They turned to basic activities such as nature walks to spend meaningful time with each other. They were residing in a single room that contained all their possessions.
"My mother took care of us when I couldn't. She covered our rent. My mother-in-law provided us with food when we had nothing. The bed filled almost the entire room; it served as our chair, our sofa, our place to rest, and occasionally our dining table," he said.
Amidst the difficulties, his wife never abandoned their love or belittled him for lacking wealth.
"Rather, she raised me. She reminded me of my true self. She encouraged me to think beyond mere survival. She filled my mind with dreams when all I could perceive was darkness. She had faith in me even when I had lost faith in myself," he said.
Hemstone recounts constructing a home with his wife
And now, many years on, the couple remains happy, raising three charming sons.
"I am currently working as a Quality Analyst. My wife is a JSS Teacher. Together, God has granted us three wonderful sons, who are living evidence that love, patience, and sacrifice lead to greatness over time," he said.
They have already constructed their own residence, and as he claims, they are capable of purchasing a four-bedroom property and covering the rent without any concerns.
Hemstone strongly believes that marriage is effective.
"I am living proof that love can create, unity can mend, and marriage can elevate a man from nothing to something. Truly, there is no such thing as a perfect relationship without social media influencing it," he added.
