The federal government has initiated the National Single Window (NSW) User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with the initial group of involved parties to make sure the integrated and tech-based trade system is functional by March 2026.
The technology provider CrimsonLogic, on Tuesday, guided each agency and stakeholder through NSW's onboarding procedure, system navigation capabilities, and the operational structure aimed at simplifying the nation's trade processes.
Finance Minister Wale Edun and Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr Zacch Adedeji, toured the UAT facilities to review developments.
Attendees at the first session from major regulatory and trade organizations were the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), along with importers, exporters, customs agents, and freight forwarders.
The collaboration enabled the organizations to examine features, confirm processes, and establish mutual understanding before the platform's launch.
The start of testing moves Nigeria nearer to implementing the NSW, with the goal of aligning paperwork, reducing trade expenses, and removing redundancies.
The trip highlighted the Federal Government's firm dedication to the effective execution of the NSW project, which seeks to revolutionize Nigeria's trade system via a single digital platform.
Throughout the tour, the minister and the FIRS chairman toured each breakout room, interacting directly with attending agencies to gain a deeper insight into their experiences throughout the testing period.
The finance minister and the FIRS chairman showed approval of the advancements made during the UAT sessions and praised the joint efforts of the various agencies.
They reasserted the government's dedication to fostering a contemporary, open, and tech-focused trading system in Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, at the opening of the first Customs Partnership for African Cooperation in Trade (C-PACT) summit on Monday in Abuja, pledged to over 30 attending African nations that the NSW would be launched in March 2026.
Tinubu stated that the NSW would greatly shorten processing times from 21 days to under seven, thus fully complying with the Africa Continental Free Trade Area’s (AfCFTA) digital trade standards and establishing Nigeria as a leader in port automation.
The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of CRFFN, Kingsley Igwe, mentioned during a stakeholders' engagement forum co-hosted by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the National Single Window Secretariat in Lagos that the digital system is already in use in Singapore, South Korea, and Rwanda. These countries have integrated all trade-related agencies and procedures into a single digital platform, thereby reducing redundancy, paperwork, and delays.
Igwe highlighted the financial advantages of fully implementing it, including cutting logistics expenses by as much as 25–30 percent, enhancing the nation's competitiveness in international trade, and drawing in additional investments.
He mentioned that the system would support manufacturers by accelerating the approval of raw materials and equipment, assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in expanding their activities by making trade tools more accessible, and allow freight forwarders to benefit from digitally monitored shipments with reduced operational challenges.
"The National Single Window will reduce the expenses associated with business operations, improve transparency in the supply chain, and strengthen Nigeria's position in the global market," Igwe said.
