With this year’s Call Of Dutyperforming below expectations in a concerning way, a reader is concerned about what this signifies forActivision and the future of Xbox.

Usually, I would say that I'm quite neutral when it comes to Xbox and PlayStation, but I have to admit that a part of me is really pleased to learn that success can't be purchased.Microsofthas been involved in the gaming industry for nearly 25 years, and it's reasonable to conclude that it hasn't been very successful for them.

Whether they stop producing hardware or not isn't really important at this point, as no one is purchasing theXbox Series Xanyone. Their games have become available on multiple platforms, and they've had a strong selection this year, yet I read that they haven't had a game nominated for Game of the Year atThe Game Awards for 15 years.

Although they own half of the gaming industry, they appear unable to release acclaimed games or attract consumers to their consoles. And now it seems they have ruined Call Of Duty, onlytwo years following the purchase of ActivisionInitially, that appears amusing, but I am concerned about what will happen to them next.

Activision Blizzardcost Microsoft $75.4 billion. When Microsoft acquired them, they made several statements that have not yet materialized. They claimed they purchased them primarily for the mobile game publisher King and promised to bring more games to the Switch. They also stated they would not increase prices. However, none of these promises have been fulfilled.

No Activision Blizzard titles have been made available on the Switch, King appears to be continuing with the same strategies as before the acquisition, and costs have increased significantly shortly after the deal was finalized – with theUSan official who was attempting to prevent the sale essentially stating, 'I told you so!'

As for the reverse Midas touch, well they have already overseenStarfield, which clearly everyone at Microsoft thought would be a big success but wasn't. Call Of Duty was added to Game Pass and it had absolutely no impact on its success. In fact, it was around that time that Xbox console sales began to decline.

I genuinely don't believe some of these issues are Microsoft's responsibility. Almost everything related to Game Pass sounds like a positive concept in theory, but in reality, people simply aren't showing interest.
