The New York Sun statesFormer supporters and associates of President Donald Trump are embracing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) as she joins an increasing number of political figures whose careers have suffered after opposing Trump.

"As I like to put it... welcome to the under-the-bus club," said Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer and fixer, in aCNN interviewSoon after Greene announced her intention to leave Congress in January, she said, "She is becoming part of a large number of individuals, including myself as the founding director, welcome to the group."

The Sun states that other members of the group also consist of former legislator Liz Cheney, who faced defeat in her home state of Wyoming following her vote to impeach Trump, and Vice President Pence, who lost Trump's backing after endorsing the outcome of the 2020 election.

Notable Republicans commenting on Greene's choice include Meghan McCain, who turned into a vocal opponent of Trump following the president's derogatory remarks about her father's military service, the late Arizona senator John McCain.

"I was aware she was going to be the next co-host of The View!" McCainposted on X, referring to the ABC talk show often criticized by conservatives due to its alleged liberal slant. The Sun pointed out that Greene indeed appeared on the program recently.

Greene joins at least 10 Republican legislatorsthose who have distanced themselves from Trump and have either left or stepped down since Trump took office.

Trump did not take long to respond to Greene's retirement, stating "I believe it's positive news for the nation. It's excellent..”

In her resignation announcement, Greene declaredShe had finished her work in a legislative branch that has been "sidelined" by the president, a figure she no longer wants to confront.

"I have consistently portrayed the average American man and woman as a member of the House of Representatives, which is why I have always been disliked in Washington DC and never felt at home," Greenesaidon X. "I have put in more effort than nearly any other elected Republican to get Donald Trump and Republicans into power, traveling across the country for years, using millions of my own funds, sacrificing valuable time with my family that I can't reclaim, and being present at locations such as outside the New York Courthouse in Collect Pond Park while confronting a fierce leftist crowd as Trump dealt with Democratic legal attacks."

Greene stated that her voters are facing difficulties, in contrast to Trump's assertions about the economy.is doing great.

When Greene steps down in January, the mathematical balance in the House of Representatives might become more precarious, according to the Sun, particularly following the December election in Tennessee's seventh congressional district where voters will choose a new representative. Democrats are optimistic they can secure that seat, increasing their House minority count to 214 members.
