- Tony Mwenda conversed with Anthony Olwal Otieno just before giving him the package intended for delivery.
- Otieno had contacted him earlier that day, asking for the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max he was scheduled to hand over to a client in South B, Nairobi.
- Mwenda, a close companion of Otieno, showed increasing worry following the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) assuming control of the case.
A companion of the late Anthony Olwal Otieno, who was violently killed following a delivery in Sana Sana, South B, Nairobi county, has come forward to speak.

Otieno was assigned to deliver an Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max to a customer when he unfortunately lost his life.
The father of three had his phone ring just after reaching his location. Several hours later, it was reported that he had been discovered deceased beneath a bed.
Tony Mwenda, a coworker of the deceased in the delivery sector, recounted their final discussion prior to Otieno's passing.
What did the companion of Otieno mention regarding the shipment?
"He contacted me in the morning, just a few minutes after 9:30 am. He informed me that he had a delivery to complete. The customer was looking for the newest Apple phone. He requested that I obtain the device from another vendor. I visited my friend Ken and acquired the phone for Otieno. As we aren't able to afford such high-end devices and typically don't handle them, I had to borrow it from Ken," he explained.
Mwenda handed Otieno the phone to take and sell in order to earn a profit, after which they would pay back Ken.
He mentioned that the phone is currently under the control of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and they are uncertain whether they will ever retrieve it.
"We have no idea how we will cover the costs. That's the main difficulty," he added.
Internet users respond to Otieno's unfolding situation
Users on social media rushed to the comment section, expressing a range of responses to the unfolding events.
veejay001:
This scam is very common in Kenya, with fraudsters pretending they will 'refer you to a brother nearby to verify the item, then pay.' Now, consider that buyers have killed someone's son because a male scammer who called himself 'Grace' from Eldoret tricked the deceased into a trap.

Arrest the criminals! Where murder remains unlawful, there must be justice. If it had been an MP who was killed, the suspects would already be in jail. DCI, stop making excuses, the CCTV footage is available, and the faces are visible.
jasminewest6826:
This goes beyond deception. It is premeditated killing, and the perpetrators deserve the most severe consequences.
annewanjiru818:
My question is: What was the purpose of this killing? What did they expect to achieve by taking his life?
superkidsafricatv7152:
May those who committed this never experience peace. May their pain be unimaginable.

Organ trade is a reality, particularly with women being used to attract men. Stay vigilant. My sympathies to the family.
What did surveillance video reveal regarding Otieno's final moments?
Additionally, video footage from CCTV showing Otieno's final movements and the appearances of the suspects came to light.
As Otieno stepped into the building, he looked puzzled, as if looking for the specific house number. He continuously glanced at his phone, apparently hoping for a call or message from the client to direct his next action.
The individuals were subsequently observed exiting the structure via an alternative entrance following Otieno's death, who was a father to three children.
