The "2025 Asian Esports Championships Asia 2025" is set to begin in Kanter City, Vietnam, on the 20th.
The Korea-China-Japan Esports Tournament, initiated in 2021, will now extend across all of Asia this year, rebranding as the 'Asian Esports Competition.' For the first time since its inception, this event will include nations beyond Korea, China, and Japan. A total of 120 athletes and officials from five countries—South Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand—are set to take part, marking a significant step toward becoming an international esports event that represents the entire Asian region.
This year's official competitions include 'League of Legends' and 'Crossfire', while 'Stepin' has been chosen as a showcase event. The Republic of Korea will field an official national team for the 'League of Legends' competition and two of the association's top players for the 'Stepin' event.
During the 'League of Legends' event, the Esports Performance Enhancement Committee chose players by thoroughly evaluating this year's LCK Challengers League results, following the national team selection and management guidelines.
Initially, coach Park Joon-seok (BNK Pierx Youth) was named as the team's leader, with the squad comprising six players: 'Soboro' Lim Sung-min (BNK Pierx Youth), 'Willer' Kim Jung-hyun (BNK Pierx Youth), 'Gini' Yoo Baek-jin (KT Rollster), 'Ukal' Son Woo-hyun (DRX), 'Padok' Park Seok-hyun (Katy Rollster), and 'Career' Oh Hyung-seok (BNK Pierx Youth). Furthermore, 'Tangerine' Park Joo-won (Genji Global Academy) will serve as a strategic analyst.
The Asian esports event this year will commence on the 20th and take place at the Technology Exchange Center under the Science and Technology Bureau in Kanter City, Vietnam, lasting for three days until the 22nd. The initial stage of the League of Legends competition is scheduled to run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on both the 20th and 21st, with the championship match set for 6 p.m. on the 22nd. The competition will follow a single round-robin format, where each victorious team earns one point, and the top two teams will qualify for the final.
The 2025 Asian esports tournament will be streamed live on the official YouTube channel, SOOP, and Zizik of the Korean esports association. The 2026 Asian esports competition is scheduled to take place in Jinju City, Gyeongsangnam-do. Since it serves as a pre-Asian Games event, the organization aims to structure the competition around the official events of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Furthermore, South Korea, China, and Japan, along with Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines, are considering involvement in line with the restructuring of the Asian regional representative national tournament. The event is organized by the Vietnam Esports Association (VIRESA), and the South Korean national team is supported by Sidiz, Logitech G, Levion, and PNP Healthcare.
